Rudimentary, raw, loud & mostly instrumental Rock’n’Roll. Influences spread from early 60’s surf-instrumentals, garage-punk, the complete works of Link Wray (who else!), the Oblivians, Man or Astroman?, all played with no respect for the originals…

LOS HISTOIROS:

The band started as a side-project of the local fun-surf band Phill’s Day Off. After two years the band broke up and Bas & Arny got serious with The Cheaters. Both of them wanted to explore the roots of the music they played in their earlier bands. They began doing some gigs with several drummers.

On one of the several gigs they did, they asked Jeroen to hit the drums and he was impressed, how the audience reacted to their high octane driven mixture of surf-instrumentals, rockabilly-trashers and authentic blues-screamers. He joined the band as a regular member. After that show, they locked them selves in the rehearsal-room for a couple of months and came out with a new repertoire and a new name: Los Cheatos.

Without any recordings or official demo, they got one gig after the other (some of them as support for Man Or Astroman and the Treble Spankers). After that they recorded a demo on an antique 4-track machine, on which they covered their 4 all-time favorites. And then… the shit hit the fan… The local press praised them into heaven and the audiences loved them. Numerous shows followed in the summer of ‘98, most of them on festivals where they played with death-metal-bands, punk-bands and even a symphony orchestra. In the winter of ‘98/’99 the band was did some shows with British psycho-billy legends Demented Are Go and was discovered by a whole new audience. After that, the band shared stages with psychobilly-heroes as Guanabatz and Batmobil and gathered a big following in the German Psychobilly-scene. In the summer of ‘99 the band went into the studio to record their debut album. Produced by “Joe” van Avesaath (Pussy Galore, Cave 4, Heideroosjes) the band recorded 12 songs in one afternoon. This CD, called “Mosasurfaris”, was released by the band itself in a number of 500 copies, and completely sold out. The new millennium was another highlight in the history of the band. Since January, the band played almost every weekend in Germany and Holland. The band was also asked to do some gigs in Kopenhagen, Denmark, including a big festival on the townsquare called “Minifest”.

In 2001 Jeroen suddenly quit the band and Arny and Bas started a short-lived stonerrock project with some friends. At the end of 2001 this project fell apart due to musical differences and this was the end of almost a decade of collaboration between Bas and Arny...

LOS LINE UP:

JEROEN: DRUMS, ROARING.The gentleman of the trio. Likes to molest his original Slingerland drumkit. He came from the local Motorpsycho addicted band McGyver.

BAS: BASGUITAR. A guy called Bas and he’s also playing bas-guitar, God had a strange kind of humor. He started playing bas in the trash-band Cellar Dwellars

ARNY: GUITAR. This old sod is the granddaddy of the band, loves only his ‘65 Fender-Jazzmaster and his Fender ‘65 Twinreverb amp. Learned his trade in numerous bands (Kotz, Bad Butt, Phill’s Day Off) and came close to fame with the almost legendary garage-grunge band Last Post.
